Dandruff is an embarrassing beauty problem we all experience. Many of us, in fact, don’t even realize we have it. But, it often leads to scalp itchiness, hairfall, and poor hair growth. In the winter, dandruff is even more common. Hair doesn’t receive proper sunlight during the winter, encouraging the growth of dandruff-causing fungus in the scalp. If that is making you go “Eww!” thank us, for we have easy, all-natural home remedies for dandruff right here!
Yogurt
Yogurt is the best, most foolproof cure for dandruff. A remedy my grandmother suggested, this dandruff treatment seemed like yet another mythical DIY thing that wouldn’t work. That is, till I used it and found my scalp free of any flakes whatsoever. Doing what medicated shampoos continuously failed to do, a cup of yogurt soothed my scalp. There is actually a scientific reason why. Yogurt contains bacteria that attacks the fungus which causes dandruff and yeast infections. Applying it is the easiest way to cure dandruff. The only problem? It is a bit cooling, so if you’re prone to winter chills, it might not be the best idea.
Neem Paste
Neem is a great antiseptic and antibacterial. It soothes inflammation so well that it is used for relieving itchy skin during chicken pox. So, if you have dandruff, making a simple neem paste is the way to go. All you need to do is blend neem leaves in a blender, and apply the paste on to your scalp. It will cool and soothe your scalp.
Tea Tree Oil
Tea tree oil is known for soothing away acne. But did you know that it also purifies skin, and is a natural anti-fungal ingredient. If you have a troubled scalp, use shampoos and oils infused with tea tree oil. You can also mix tea tree essential oil in your regular hair oil and apply it.
Apple Cider Vinegar And Lemon Juice
Apple cider vinegar and lemon juice are pretty acidic, so applying this mix helps in cleansing the scalp vigorously if you have an oily scalp. This remedy is not recommended for dry dandruff. The way to do this involves washing your hair with shampoo first. After that, apply a mix of equal parts apple cider vinegar, lemon, and water to your scalp. Massage this in well, and wash off after ten-fifteen minutes. Your hair will feel shiny and fresh!
